Club Med

San Salvador, Bahamas: April 18 – 25, 2008.

If you just want to rest and recuperate from a long winter, recover from the stresses of work and everyday life, then the Club Med Columbus Isle is the close to perfect place. There’s really nothing to do other than lie on the beach and totally veg out – under the Island sun.

Of course, if you really want to, you can sail, scuba, snorkel, jog, play tennis, take an excursion – but why bother? All you can eat, all you can drink, hot climate but with a wonderful breeze. I spent as much time as possible swimming and body surfing in the Ocean – at times the surf got pretty rough though.

The Island itself is very small. About 1000 inhabitants, a good chunk of which work for the Club.

We had a wonderful room right off the Ocean with the most amazing view of that white sand and turquoise water. Would we go back? Possibly. One week is just enough, any more and you would get pretty bored. Stay all year long and you would probably go postal.

One word of caution, along with the suntan lotion bring some insect repellent. The mosquitoes aren’t that bad but watch out for the sand mites or sand fleas – those little buggers will have you scratching all day.
