My one and only winter project was building a new PC. It didn’t take all winter though. I spent a month or so procrastinating and doing some legit research on current PC technologies. One thing about about high end DIY computers, you won’t save any money by rolling your own, but you will get to pick and choose your components. As long as you don’t screw up and fry your motherboard, you will end up with a boss system, uniquely customized to meet your need for speed. Most importantly you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing your PC was assembled with the highest quality / best of breed parts, at least until next week’s crop of technology comes in.
Of course there’s also the bragging rights – the bigger the boys, the bigger the toys.
